Forgive me if I'm putting this request in the wrong place.
I just finished my Type 3 ambulance. Ready to hit the road but I'm having a hard time insuring it. Any advice? Tried Hagerty, Progressive, on and on. No luck.
I live in Spokane, Wa. Can any one help me?
Thanks in advance,
Tucker 6606

Surprised your having trouble, but every state seems different, Here in Virginia I ended up with Progressive.
Call whoever provides your insurance on your other vehicles, and ask them if any of their underwriters will cover it. For instance I'm with Nationwide, and they have an Underwriter, Victoria/Titan, that does commercial vehicles, and I breifly had my Type I insured with them...

Tucker,
I am in Spokane as well. I was able to insure with Progressive as a Class C motor-home on a 92 E350 chassis. Although technically I suppose you could list as a Class B as there is no over-cab.

I've heard some have got them insured by not referring to them as an ambulance but simply as an E350 Cutaway Van. Some employees will say no just because they don't know rather than figure it out. Given some have insured theirs with the same companies that said no to you this may be the case.
This may be the first case where we've got something easier here in Canada than south of the border. Here I think you just need a weigh bill from a comercial scale, transfer papers, and the previous registration 'slip'. In BC they are all sold through government surplus, so the agents selling them give you the documents you need and tell you what to do... since they are selling a couple most weeks.
