Had a custom receiver installed. Good mechanic buddy and his welder son put this together in a short afternoon!

Very nice. Should the dissimilar metals be separated a bit to avoid issues? Might not need much space... just enough so water etc. can't bridge the gap. will reduce future corrosion issues. Not very versed on the subject though. Might be worth it to you to read up some on it?

They could sell those... I'd buy one...
Paint and some Sika Flex would solve the dissimilar metal issue.

In some environments (I.e. marine) it could be problematic, here there is unlikely to be any noticeable difference in our lifetimes.
Here's a website with a helpful chart for reference towards the bottom of the page.

Landcruisers have been having aluminum tubs bolted onto them for 30 odd years. Sika Flex has been doing the job to limit problems. Not to mention the steel E350 cab that's bolted to the aluminum box on the same Ambo

Yeah, Steel to Aluminum galvanic corrosion really isn't a big problem, just protecting the steel the way you normally would (A good paint) is really probably all that is needed.

Well I've got the Adaptulance down at a customs shop about an hour away, the guy there is going to reduce the wiring to just that of a van so that I don't have a compartment taken up by redundant and overly complex wiring.
Anyone else ventured to do anything similar?
I'm itching to get it back as I've got several thousand dollars worth of goodies to put in it when it comes home.

The biggest issue I've ever had with steel and aluminum is when you've got an aluminum stem or seatpost in a steel bike frame for a long time w/ no regreasing. That bumper/hitch area probably won't have an issue for at least a couple hundred years!
PLEASE let us know an approx. cost for the rewiring job. I know there are a lot of variables, but I've always wondered what a shop would charge as a ballpark.
