When ambus are decommissioned, they are often stripped of electronic gear: radios, siren, P/A, suction, etc. This is usu very crudely done, cutting wires & often leaving wire-ends exposed.
Since some circuits are constantly hot (e.g., a clock-- needs juice even when the overall cutoff is OFF), these *can short to ground and cause real engine gremlin-trouble.
Mine has been sitting for months because the batts are drained and the PCM was acting weird.
Now I will do this:
FIND AND TRACE any loose ends you find in the truck; most ambu electrical wires will be marked with their function every 6-8". Then either d/c them from the source, tie them up or shrink wrap these wires! They *will corrode if insulation is incomplete.
