Wow. Threat of immediate banning for not posting immediately seems a bit harsh just for someone who might like to lurk and seek some friendly advice from a forum of knowledgeable folks.
OK. Just got a 1988 Kodiak 60 series. Has a Wheeled Coach module on it. Most definitely NOT original chassis/module combo. Chassis started out life as a Budweiser tractor making local beer deliveries. Then was commandeered by a local PD and outfitted with the box for use as their SWAT Team Jump Out truck. Box was completely gutted of all ambulance material and wiring. COMPLETE clean slate.
30 years old. Only 130,000 miles. Always fleet maintained. Caterpillar turbocharged 3208 engine with NO electronics and Allison 5 speed tranny. Starts with barely touching the key EVERY time.
Something tells me this was a good thing as I have been reading on other forums how difficult it is to decipher the electrics pertaining to the module. As an electrician in a former life I am comfortable starting from scratch and making it exactly as I want it from the beginning.
I tried to post a couple of pics but I didn't see a way to do so. Perhaps this, like many other forums, prohibit posting of pics to new members to keep the unwanted advertising to a minimum. Perhaps someone could enlighten me on this as I am eager to share this project and learn from those whom have already been down this path.
As an aside, I was NOT looking for this project. A dear friend approached me with a deal I could not refuse so I jumped on it. That explains why I didn't do a lot of research before hand.
Looking forward to hearing of others transformations and learning. Many thanks,
ROCKY

completely understand that path of thought.. then again if one was member not too long ago .... the spam was so bad we had to take drastic measures. Had sometimes up to 50 spam post attacks a day. It crippled the board. So far now the changes to thwart the spam is working.... No spam attacks in 2 or so months.CaptRocky wrote: Wow. Sounds like a great start. Glad for you that this adventure presented itself to you. look forward to your participation here.CaptRocky wrote: OK. Just got a 1988 Kodiak 60 series. Has a (gutted) Wheeled Coach module on it. .... Starts with barely touching the key EVERY time.

You are correct It will take a few post before you can post pictures. Off top of my head it might be 5??? maybe less. Yeah, I should know I set the limit.... lol.. but have always been a bit of an Absent Minded Professor.

I understand and suspected that was the case. I have been on boards which have been over run with spam and it kills them if not addressed quickly. Glad this one is being moderated closely.
Looking forward to learning from the other members of this unique board!
Thanks,

Heya Ambo-fans,
I have a 1989 Ford Type II 4x4 Ambo that I converted in to a Sportsmobile style camper van. I am looking to share the journey on here with a build thread.
Cheers,
Andy

Hey everyone!
Recently discovered this website and its perfect for my lifestyle. My girlfriend and I live in a 1997 Chevy K3500 6.5L Turbo Diesel Ambulance - in fact there's 2 posts on this forum about our amby which we though was funny, heres one of them:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9362
We live on the roadfull time helping grow our business Camp Trend - which is a production company for outdoor lifestyle and adventure brands. We also make and sell art (jewelry, leather, paintings) at various markets.
Really stoked that there's a community out here and glad to be a part of it. Would be more than happy to help answer any questions and I know I'll have a bunch myself.
Thanks!

Thanks for the site!
I recently converted a 1996 Ford E350 Ambulance, shipped it to Europe and have been driving it for 2 months. It is currently For Sale in Tropea, Italy. But I can drive it anywhere in Europe for cost of fuel to deliver.

I recently purchased my first diesel truck which turned out to be a 1995 6.5 turbo diesel Chevy 3500HD Cheyenne ambulance. I’m hoping to start the rv conversion for it. Just finished all the engine stuff for it. Thanks for the addition to the group.
