Re: Post your Boondocks rescue "Toy"??? (Bikes, ATV's, UTV's...)

Never heard of such a creature: diesel bike. Yes, ONE fuel seems the best solution. If it works.... At 400+cc, its bound to have power at higher rpms (what's the hp rating?), but how does it perform at lower rpms? (I haven't watched the video) Is this *only a DIY fab thing, or are there stock diesel...

Re: Exterior roof access folding steps?

Yeah, order for inside door-- don't want galvo exposed to weather. They'd be *super for rooftop handholds, tho!
Don't want a blind leap to get on/off.

Re: Ceiling fans - Maxx Fan or Fan-Tastic

Fantastic Fan is wildly overrated IMHO: cannot run it in rain, or when moving. Maxx fan seems better at same cost.
Consider a reversible power-vented hatch.

Most ambus have exhausts, but they're inadequate for cooling: [mostly to remove noxious smells(!)]

Re: Shelves and tables

Toward this end: (6) 48"x18" chromed wire shelves with 60" poles and wheels: $70 at Costco. Shelves rated to "hold 800 lbs each". Coated with dry silicone lubricant, they've been outdoors fulltime for 8 mos in v humid environ, only a hint of rust on the SS linkages, none wha...

Re: Roof Rack options: buy, build, or modify?

I'd sure want to avoid any quick turns at-speed, as 3-400 lbs is alot to play with. Esp if tank is without baffles, its gonna go where *it wants to go, and might ruin my day.

Decommissioning shorts

BE ADVISED: When ambus are decommissioned, they are often stripped of electronic gear: radios, siren, P/A, suction, etc. This is usu very crudely done, cutting wires & often leaving wire-ends exposed . Since some circuits are constantly hot (e.g., a clock-- needs juice even when the overall cuto...

Re: Reducing weight in the Sandbulance.

The weight vs strength ratio is darn good already-- not a lot to gain, and for untold hassle. If I were to go "there", I'd go with cabinet grade 3/16" or 5mm birch ply and fiberglass the boxes, or epoxy paint . For extremes, I've even used polyester resin on corrugated cardboard and f...
